Default Tips to a Successful DFTW Site Visit

Planning a trip to Disney for a site visit? It’s such an exciting time! We’ve listed some tips below to help you narrow down your choices and get ready for your visit.
  • How many guests will you be expecting? This doesn’t have to be a concrete number; a rough estimate will do just fine. Some Disney venues, for all events, have a minimum/maximum capacity and it’s very important to take that into consideration when choosing your venues.
  • Do you want a plated or buffet style reception? Certain Disney venues are restricted to what kind of meal can be served. If this is important to you, do your research now so you can narrow down your list.
  • Wedding event proximity. Do you want your events to be close together? To keep the wedding day momentum going, many brides choose to keep their events in the same area. This also helps keep transportation costs down, as well. For instance, a Sea Breeze Point ceremony followed by Atlantic Dance Hall or Ballroom, both located at Disney’s Boardwalk Resort. Or a ceremony at Disney’s Wedding Pavilion with a reception at Narcoossee’s or Ballroom located at Disney’s Grand Floridian.
  • Would you like a theme park ceremony or reception? This can greatly affect the day. Epcot and Magic Kingdom ceremonies require an early morning ceremony, before the park opens. And some Epcot reception venues require a time after the park has closed for the evening.
  • Is there a minimum food and beverage expenditure? Some Disney venues require you to spend a certain amount on food and beverage. If budget is very important to you, find out what those numbers are.
  • Are you planning to use an outside vendor for floral and décor? All events within a Disney theme park and some specialty venues outside the parks require you to use Disney’s floral department for any floral and décor. This area of wedding planning can save you a good chunk of change if you decide to go with an outside vendor however, you’ll want to make sure you will be able to use them at your location choices.
  • What about photography/videography? While outside photography vendors are welcome at any Disney venues outside of a theme park, you will need to use Disney’s Fine Art Photography department for any and all in park events.
  • Are you planning on hosting a Welcome Party, Rehearsal Dinner, Farewell Brunch or any other group event during your wedding festivities? Start looking at those options as well. Some brides have had something simple as ADRs made at a Disney restaurant, or have had DFTW organize that as well.

Lots to think about, isn’t there? That’s the beauty of having a Disney Fairy Tale Wedding. They have options for all types of wedding sizes, themes and budgets. Part of the excitement is choosing the options that will be perfect for your big day!

Before you leave for your site visit, don't forget to...
  • Bring a camera! And don’t forget to take lots of pictures of your spaces during your visit. It’s all fresh in your head while you’re there but it’s good to have those pictures available to reference later. Especially if a key member of the wedding party cannot attend the site visit.
  • Bring a list of questions. Anything you can think of that will be of importance for your event. Are you planning to tear up the dance floor at your reception? Ask, or take note of, about the dance space and size. What kind of tables will you be able to use? How many tables will the space hold? And any questions you still have from your research. This is the time to get those answers as you will have uninterrupted time with your Sales Consultant.
  • Bring a small note pad and pen to take notes. You will not remember all the conversations you have once your back home and the pixie dust high wears off.
